ESTONIAN LANGUAGE BLOG

Eestikeelne linnablogi – the Estonian verison of urbanistika.ee

This blog will aim at Estonian citizens. We want to:

  1. inform people about urban issues as their everyday life (with the aim to make them be more aware of their power to change things);
  2. offer information on planning process and on relevant plans in a form that would be understandabel for everyone;
  3. illustrate the information with examples from Estonia and from abroad;
  4. offer an opportunity for discussions;
  5. use translations of other blogs in urbanistika.ee on topics that seem relevant;
  6. gather links and information on citizen groups and non-profit organisations related to planning and urbanism; gather information on citizen activity and the results, especially in Estonia.

We want to let people know about the urban topic as something that affects their everyday life. Everybody should be aware of how the decision process goes and what kind of opportunities there are for interrupting. Urbanism and planning should become a topic of discussion in a wider scale than just among politicians and architects.

As we are dealing with a blog, the aim would also be, as for the whole urbanistika.ee page, to courage discussion and to let people form the blog. Our job would be to establish an archive of relevant background information, to moderate the discussions and to keep the page “fresh”. The aim is also to involve topics and people as well from other cities than Tallinn.
